FAQ and troubleshooting

Answers to the questions organisers run into most often.

The app won't read an NFC chip

01The app won't read an NFC chip

Check that the phone has a built-in NFC reader (not every budget model does) and that NFC is turned on in the phone's settings.

The app is offline — will I lose data?

02The app is offline — will I lose data?

No — the app stores records directly on the phone and sends them as soon as the connection comes back.

A participant's time wasn't recorded

03A participant's time wasn't recorded

Check that their start was triggered (for individual or wave starts) and that the correct checkpoint was selected.

How do I change the recording method mid-event?

04How do I change the recording method mid-event?

In event settings, "Recording method" section — the change applies immediately, existing records stay intact.

Do you have an iPhone app?

05Do you have an iPhone app?

TAQIO is currently Android only. You install the app from Google Play, or download the installation file (APK) directly from this website.

06A chip passed but I have no participant for it — is the time lost?

No. The passing was saved as unassigned. Assign the chip to a participant through the "Unassigned passings" line on the timing screen (or add it in Event settings) and the time is credited to them automatically.

07The USB reader does not connect

Check the USB-OTG cable and that the reader is set to the "USB HID" output. Unplug and plug the reader back in and confirm the USB permission in the system window. You can see the status on the timing screen in the "TAQIO UHF reader" line.
